What to Know About Senior Moves

Senior Move Checklist

When you're preparing for a move, you have to keep a few things in mind. We made a checklist for senior moves, so that you can have peace of mind. If you need a hand with your move, our team of senior real estate specialists would love to help!

  1. Staging your home
    • Appeal to prospective buyers by fixing up your home before you begin showings. Buyers are looking for a space that they can see themselves in, and staging helps people see the potential in your home that you know is already there!
    • Not sure about the investment? We offer concierge services to work with contractors on improving your home before showings, from deep cleaning to electrical work to a fresh coat of paint. Learn more about concierge services here.
  2. Showing your home
    • The two types of showings you should be prepared for are open houses and individual showings. During either type of showing, a member of our team will be at your house to walk prospective buyers through the property and answer questions.
      • Open houses
      • Individual showings
  3. Negotiating the sale & closing
    • How do you know what your home is worth? We take the work off your hands to evaluate offers from prospective buyers. We communicate with you and negotiate with the buyers every step of the way to make sure you get the correct value for your home.
  4. Packing & Moving
    • The moving process can be overwhelming, especially when it means moving from a family home. Family members can help with your move, but sometimes choosing what to move and what to let go of can be emotional. Senior Move Managers are a new type of service provider that can help with this part of the moving process. We can introduce you to a Senior Move Managers who can help:
      • Evaluate the contents of your old home and assess space available in the new one.

      • Work with you to determine how much will fit in the new home.

      • Help sort and make decisions about what to keep and what to leave.

      • Manage the process of packing and moving, then unpacking and arranging possessions in their new home.
